Description:
This is a part-time, hourly position requiring 10-15 hours of work per week, paying $18.00 per hour.
The Boston Circus Guild (BCG) is currently seeking an individual with an interest in circus arts and excellent communication and organizational skills for the role of Assistant Booking Manager (ABM). The ABM will work with the Booking Manager to translate clients’ desires for circus entertainment into casting calls and event details messages that are sent to the BCG’s roster of performers. Following casting messages, the ABM will coordinate with the Booking Manager to select performers for events and direct costuming to meet and exceed client expectations for spectacular entertainment!
Circus is a broad and varied art form and the BCG works with some of the best artists from around New England to offer world-class performances at events ranging from corporate shareholder meetings to night club promotions to private parties and weddings. The ABM will have the opportunity to learn about many disciplines within the world of circus arts and does not need to come into the job with a deep knowledge of the art form, just an interest in supporting vibrant performance and a desire to learn.
Assistant Bookings Manager Duties May Include (but are not limited to):
Enter event details into templates for casting calls, gig information emails, site manager coordination messages, confirmation sheets, and event followup emails.
Collaborate with Booking Manager to make casting decisions for events
Coordinate costuming with performers and Booking Manager based on client desires and event aesthetics
Communicate with performers about casting decisions and event details
Collect and organize photos and videos from events and costume proposals
Keep track of a busy calendar of events to ensure the BCG can fulfill its commitment to clients for extraordinary performances
Hours & Expectations
Bookings vary by season with the most activity during the summer and around the holidays. With diligent advance planning and consistent work, the ABM position reliably requires 10-15 hours per week. During slower seasons, templates can be updated and modified to make a more efficient workflow for the busier months. In the high season, the ABM will be coordinating up to 10 different events at different stages of production simultaneously, so the ability to keep track of many moving parts is crucial.
Days of the week can be flexible, though the position includes an assortment of tasks that happen with 24- and 48-hour deadlines, so it is best to have at least 4 days available for part-time work.
Additional Information
The BCG requires all staff and performers who interact with each other to be fully vaccinated.
