Automation Run Crew
Position Designation: Full Time – Hourly
Position Reports To: Technical Director
Opportunity

Drury Lane Theatre is seeking detail-oriented, focused individuals to program and run automation for Drury Lane’s productions, as well as assist the Technical Director with the installation and upkeep of the productions.
The Automation Run Crew will be responsible for the installation and programming of any automated elements during the load-in process using Creative Conners’ Spikemark software, as well as assisting the Technical Director during load-in and tech. The Automation Run Crew will work with Stage Management during tech on any adjustments to automation.
Once performances begin, the Automation Run Crew will be present for all shows, handling all pre- and post-show tasks assigned to them, as well as running their show track for each performance. The Automation Run Crew will attend additional rehearsals prior to Press Opening and may be required to attend full company put-in rehearsals following Press Opening.
During the run of the show, the Automation Run Crew will address upkeep notes for the set given by the Stage Manager and Technical Director. They will also meet with the Technical Director to discuss upcoming productions, strike, and load-in plans, and attend weekly Department Heads meetings for updates.

Essential Knowledge Required
1 year experience programming and running Creative Conners’ Spikemark software
Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Theatre or equivalent work experience required
Ability to read scene shift paperwork
Working knowledge of theatrical carpentry, automation, and rigging
Must not be afraid of heights
Expectations of the Position
Available for all tech, requested rehearsals, and performances
See at least one run-through prior to tech
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Availability for weekly maintenance calls
Lead crews of up to 8 during the load-in process

Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Present proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Reliable transportation required

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information, remain in a stationary seated position, use hands and arms to grab and reach, and occasionally walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. May occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities are also required.

Pay and Benefits

Starting at $18 per hour, depending on experience.
