Overview of Role

This upcoming role is an opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join the Automation department on Disney’s Aladdin on a fixed term basis. Working with their Head of Department and Deputy Head, this staff member will assist with the day to day running of a large scale musical, all maintenance efforts, and in working with local venue staff to maintain the excellence of the show.

Overview of the Business

Responsibilities and Duties

•Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Automation to ensure the smooth running of all rehearsals and performances

•Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Automation on any day-to-day changes that might impact the running of the Production

•Assist the Head and Deputy of Automation in teaching new members of staff, deps and local crews, as well as working closely with theatre staff at the touring venues to ensure the smooth running of the production

•Perform daily setup and automation rig checks

•Ensure an awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make necessary adjustments

•Ensure all automation equipment is cleaned so they are in working order for each performance

•Learn and execute the tracks backstage for the Automation Department

•Operate the show automation for performances, replicating the show's design

•Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required

•Maintain and repair aspects of the automation system as instructed and dictated by the artistic requirements and under the direction of the Head and Deputy Head of Automation, Production Manager and Resident Creative Team.

•Handle any problems that occur during performances quickly and calmly.

•Report any show or staff related issues in a timely manner

•Work in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy and maintain a good working knowledge of all relevant health and safety legislation and good working practices.

•Work closely and in conjunction with the Head of Automation.

Skills Required

•Clear, confident communication and decision making essential

•Ability to remain focused and calm when under pressure

•Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills with cast, creative and production team essential

•Transparent and open approach, be able to work well under pressure

•Excellent problem-solving skills and use of own initiative

•A full awareness of need for integrity and confidentiality

•Experience of working with Automation within the entertainment sector (Theatre/Rock And Roll or Television/Film)

•Knowledge of setting up, maintaining and operation of Automation systems including, electronics, electric motors, winches, manual and automated rigging devices

•Experience in the operation of computerised automation control equipment

•Ability to work at height

•Experience in a similar role within a large-scale musical production working with an international cast is highly desirable

•Ability to follow instructions and department rules.

•A motivated individual with a drive to learn new skills and understand what is required to maintain a consistent high production standard.

•Discretion and ability to work closely with others.

•Well organised across all work.

Additional Information

•Fixed Term Contract.

•Weekend and evening work integral (Tuesday to Sunday show schedule).

•This role will require the candidate to understand and follow the Health and safety rules & regulations in place at the the production.
