ABOUT INDIANA REPERTORY THEATRE

The Indiana Repertory Theatre (IRT) was founded in 1972 and is the only theatre in Indiana to belong to the League of Resident Theatres (LORT). Historically, the IRT has produced nine productions annually across three stages (the OneAmerica Mainstage, and the Janet Allen Stage) for diverse audiences. The repertoire includes work varying from world premieres to classics. The IRT serves audiences of multiple generations including students from pre-school through twelfth grade. With a significant endowment, the IRT is financially stable. Following many decades of diverse programming, the IRT leadership, in the past three years, has focused on further diversifying its staff and board, including ongoing anti-racist training for all.

POSITION PURPOSE

As the Audio and Visual Technician, you are responsible for the installation and implementation of the department+rsquo;s needs for all productions, venue rentals, IRT meetings + events. You are also responsible for the execution of departmental needs and improvements pertaining to productions and internal organizational needs and improvements.

POSITION FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
+middot; Maintaining primary sound and video systems in both the Mainstage and Upperstage venues as well as all secondary systems including: distributed audio system, video monitoring, headsets, paging systems, and all support systems (rehearsal room, Cabaret, Grand Lobby, temporary/portable systems, etc.).
- Program Qlab playback systems.
- Mix and operate the sound system for all productions as assigned.
- Generate documentation for productions. This includes: Signal flow, show-run labels, processing, cueing notes, cue sheets, and archives.
- Facilitate technical and artistic needs of Sound Designers for related shows and events. This includes, but is not limited to, load in/out, assembling, rigging, configuring sound and video systems, crafting specialty sound devices, basic audio editing and recording, troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Maintain and update the audio department Mac + Dante networks.
- Attend all mandatory meetings, rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and other functions as assigned.
- Perform such tasks, services, duties, and responsibilities in accordance with IRT policies, rules, regulations, and instructions now in force or which may be adopted from time to time during Employee+rsquo;s employment at the IRT.

OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Other duties as determined by Head of Audio + Visual and/or the Production Manager, as they pertain to the department and categories of work outlined above.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience.
- Experience with audio for live theatre.
- Experience with video projections.
- Professional experience or degree in audio technology/theatre technology.
- Ability to work in a team and maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to collaborate with fellow staff and free-lance artists.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

- Understanding of signal flow, gain structure, and placement in large format sound systems.
- Familiarity with QLab software.
- Familiarity with digital and analog audio consoles, video systems, recording, editing and sound reinforcement.
- Familiarity with Mac networking functionality.
- Ability to work nights and weekends.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- This position frequently communicates with groups of people in open areas.
- This position consistently works in darkened environments.

- This position consistently requires stooping, kneeling, or crouching for many tasks.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
