JOB SUMMARY
Narrate a 90-minute tour through the city of Ketchikan and the Tongass Narrows in an upbeat, fun manner.
Responsibilities
As a tour narrator, your main objectives are to be informative, pleasant, and upbeat as you guide your passengers through the city of Ketchikan and Tongass Narrows. Educate and inform guests about our surrounding area and aid passengers as needed. Deckhand responsibilities include assisting with any and all emergencies including but not limited to “Man- Overboard”, First Aid, and CPR. Additional duties include but are not limited to conducting the safety speech at the onset of each tour, informing passengers of merchandise for sale, answering questions, helping passengers onto and off of the DUCK, and aiding the captain as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
Authentic team player and exceptional customer service skills.
Excellent verbal communication skills with guests, staff, and management team.
Ability to provide accurate passenger counts and maintain precise ticket counts.
Broad knowledge of Ketchikan and area; and the State of Alaska as a whole.
Convey a sense of professionalism in both demeanor and appearance.
Speak clearly and accurately through the microphone.
Convey enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
Possess strong endurance and high energy for extended periods.
Be able to stand for long periods of time with the ability to balance in a moving vehicle both on land and in the water.
Performance background is desired.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 18 years or older. Must be able to pass a drug test before employment and at random throughout the entire season. Must be able to perform in front of crowds.
