Description:To apply, send cover letter, resume and portfolio materials, when applicable, to [email protected]For more information, please visit www.flatrockplayhouse.org Job Title: A1 Audio Engineer Salary + Benefits: $16.50-18.50 per hour (plus overtime after 40 hours) Eligible for Insurance and PTO Benefits after 90 days Single Room Housing with Shared Bathroom Provided Department: Sound Reports to (Position): Head of Audio Dates of Employment: March 23 - December 20, 2026 SUMMARY: The A1 Sound Engineer is responsible for the load in, operation and maintenance of theatrical sound equipment. They will serve as FOH mixer/sound board operator on assigned productions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Sound Designer and Head of Audio with load-in and strike of each show Set up and maintenance of backstage theater communication systems, including ClearCom and video monitoring. Build and fit RF mic rigs Prep AND properly monitor RF during all performances Troubleshoot and fix RF problems as they occur When assigned as FOH mixer for a production: operate the sound console and execute sound cues called by the stage manager May serve as A2 as production needs dictate. Attend production meetings, tech, dress rehearsals, and notes sessions as assigned by the Head of Audio and/or Production Manager. Train A2 on A1 responsibilities, including console operation and show protocols in case of absence. Commitment to the training and professional development of entry level theatre artists. Complete required parking shifts during show runs along with other staff as assigned by management EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor Degree in theater/related field or commensurate experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 1 year experience in Sound for the Theatre preferred SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: In depth understanding of signal flow Wireless microphone and body pack maintenance and operation Knowledge of RF tuning Digital Console programing and operation, Yamaha preferred Macintosh and Windows operating systems Knowledge of QLab, Wireless Workbench, and basic understanding of digital audio workstations.
