Description:

Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre invites dance artists, choreographers, and companies to submit expressions of interest for a studio residency program scheduled for 2027. This unique opportunity provides a dedicated environment for artistic exploration and development, guiding work from initial concept through to performance. The program fosters interaction with fellow resident artists, exhibiting creators, the public, and the distinctive local community in a rural setting. The residency offers comprehensive practical support, including access to a fully equipped, accessible 56-square-meter dance studio located on Level 3. The studio features a sprung wooden floor, marley, mirrors, barre, and a sound system. Residents benefit from key holder privileges, Wi-Fi, and both technical and administrative assistance. A changing room with a shower is conveniently available on Level 4, and flexible evening and weekend access can be arranged. Please note that this is a non-accommodation residency and does not include a stipend. Artists are strongly encouraged to secure external funding for travel, accommodation, and living expenses from their respective Arts Councils or Local Authorities. Proposals that demonstrate a strong commitment to public engagement and relevance to the venue's location and facilities are given priority. Applicants are also encouraged to consider the institution's climate-action and sustainable-practice goals within their proposals. To apply for a 2027 residency, please compile and submit your proposal as a single PDF document. This submission should include:
* An up-to-date CV with accessible links to at least two video examples of your work, alongside up to four still images of previous work (JPEGs, no larger than 2MB each).
* Your proposal itself, detailing: * **ABOUT YOU and YOUR PRACTICE:** A concise biography. * **ABOUT YOUR PROPOSED RESIDENCY:** A brief description of your plans for the residency period. * **WHY THIS VENUE:** Your specific reasons for choosing this location (e.g., its environment, culture, multidisciplinary network, rural setting, potential for retreat, or local connections). Please also outline how you will consider our climate-action and sustainable-practice goals. * **PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT:** How you intend to meet the objective of public engagement, relevant to your practice and our community (e.g., a sharing of work-in-progress, a workshop for a specific group, a masterclass, a talk, a discussion, a film screening, or social media activity). * **DATES AND DURATION:** Your preferred dates in 2027 and the number of studio days you are seeking (typically 5–10 days for those not within commuting distance; longer stays are possible with local accommodation). Please indicate any flexibility or preference for block bookings.
