Recreational Programs

Circus fitness is a unique and fun way to get fit and strong, develop coordination and make friends. Each class offers a mixture of cardio and strength training on different circus equipment to progress your fitness- fast! No two classes are the same as our instructors keep things fresh by using a variety of equipment. You could be doing sit ups and chin ups using a trapeze bar, rope climbs to the top of our aerial rig, leg lifts while hanging from the silks and a total ab workout using hula hoops! In addition to our aerial fitness section, you'll also find lots of fun and challenges in the ground based section of the class. If you're not holding plank or doing burpees, you'll be practicing handstands, acrobatics or juggling- great for coordination! Circus Fitness is are suitable for any level of ability and we recommend Circus Fitness for anyone looking to build the strength necessary for all circus disciplines. Price: £5 per class or £40 for a block of 8 classes. Level: Open Level Ages: 16 +

Recreational Programs

A great introduction to aerial skills, this combined class of static trapeze and silks allows you to try your hand at two very different disciplines and get a sense of what static aerial is all about! Our aerial classes start with a warm up, conditioning on the floor and on the equipment and then onto learning moves/ transitions followed by a stretch at the end. This class is suitable for people with no previous experience and those who are still mastering our beginner’s syllabus of techniques. For trapeze, we’ll learn moves from underneath the bar, sitting and standing on it. In silks, we’ll look at climbing and positions such as foot-lock and hip-lock. Once you are comfortable with individual moves, we’ll link them together to create sequences.

This classes is aim at students who are been performing on Aerial Silks and have some degree of skill on the apparatus. Following a similar structure to our beginners' class you this class will take you to the next level. You will learn more complex movements and work towards building your own personalised routine,.

This class will combine Parkour, Trampoline and Acrobatics into one action packed class! This class will give students an excellent grounding in these three complimentary disciplines allowing them to develop and progress their ground-based acrobatic skills!

We are excited to launch a new pilot programme of daytime aerial and acro open training sessions for all circus and physical performance professionals. Days/Times: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, 2-5pm Cost: £7.50 per session, or £50/ month. We will contact you to arrange your assessment and induction appointment. Please note: You must have your own equity membership/ public liability insurance to be eligible for these sessions.

If you’ve always dreamed of being able to do the splits then this is the class for you! Perfect for circus artists who are looking to improve their lines and positions.

Our acrobatics classes are designed to teach the basics of acrobatic tumbling and build conditioning to develop towards more advanced moves. We start with forward and backwards rolls, and progress through handstand forward rolls, cartwheels and round offs and move onto handsprings and somersaults.

Aerial Hoop, also called Lyra, combines grace and coordination with dynamic acrobatics. The hoop is an art which is often seen using complementary skills from static and swinging trapeze. In Beginners Aerial hoop we will work on improving strength and fitness while learning good hoop technique and moves that will act as a basis for more advanced moves and transitions. Once students have mastered the basic techniques, we will move on to learning to transition between moves with grace and ease while gaining strength and control. The more adventurous students can work on the use of spin within routines once they are confident with the basics.

Acrobalance involves working with a partner to learn a mixture of static balances, such as standing on shoulders; and dynamic moves, including rock & roll tricks. Combining strength, balance, flexibility and trust, acrobalance is a brilliant way to maintain fitness; and is also very sociable! The class will involve a warm-up, some partnered-conditioning, and learning new skills, followed with a cool-down. Come on your own, or bring a partner- you’ll meet new people and learn skills you never thought possible. This Intermediate level class is great for those who have some experience in acrobalance. We will work on building more complex sequences, overhead lifts and work towards hand-to-hand balancing. Due the nature of this class, in some circumstances it may not be possible to run this class with one student - so bring your friends!

Flying trapeze is where the aerialist jumps from a platform with the trapeze and swings through the air, performing a trick and being caught by a catcher. In these highly addictive classes students will learn how to swing under the trapeze bar and work towards going to catch. Our Open Level Flying Trapeze class is open to everyone, no aerial experience is required as beginners will be in safety lines. For those who have flown before, we will work on increasing your skill perfecting your take off and improving the technique you use in your tricks while in the air. Absolute beginners with no experience are welcome but you must be comfortable climbing a ladder and working at height and you must be capable of supporting your own weight hanging by hands from a bar. We have a range of safety belt sizes that will accomodate anyone between the waist sizes of: 20.5 - 42 inches (52 - 106 cm).

Overcome your fear, discover your inner child and learn handstands in a way that makes sense to you. This class incorporates conditioning and handstand techniques to improve body awareness and balance. If you want to enhance your ability in our acro classes by getting to handstand faster, or doing a handstand may have been something you have always wanted to be able to do. We will teach you the techniques and conditioning exercises needed to achieve a stable handstand as well as different ways to get into it and out of it. This class is suitable for beginners.

Straps, also known as aerial straps, are a type of aerial apparatus on which various feats of strength and flexibility may be performed, often in the context of a circus performance. It is a cotton or nylon web apparatus that looks like two suspended ribbons. By wrapping the strap ends around hands and wrists, the performer performs holds, twists, rolls and manoeuvres, requiring extreme strength and precision similar men’s rings in gymnastics. Our Straps class is a mixed class where beginners will learn basic moves and intermediate students will work towards building a routine and learning more complex moves.

This class will focus on Petit Volant and Cradle techniques which can then be combined into breathtaking flying routines.

Rope, also called Corde Lisse, is a freeing apparatus that shares some technique with silks and trapeze. These classes will cover different climbs, multitudes of transitions and drops alongside ways to create small routines on the equipment.

Learn to master the fabrics and create beautiful images in this elegant art form while building strength and stamina. Our aerial classes start with a warm up, conditioning on the floor and on the equipment and then onto learning moves/ transitions followed by a stretch at the end. This class is suitable for people who haven’t tried silks or are still mastering climbing and trying to improve on basic techniques such as Foot Lock, Hip Lock, Inversion (Catchers) and descents. Once you can demonstrate these core techniques, we’ll learn more tricks from these positions and link them together to create routines.

This class is our ‘all rounder’ as it covers the 3 essential disciplines for any aspiring circus performer! Each term will include a mix of Aerial (such as trapeze and silks), Acro (acrobatics, acrobalance) and Manipulation (juggling, hula hoop). Students will develop their spatial awareness and coordination in the air as well as core strength and flexibility through the floor based disciplines. Suitable for anyone aged 7 - 16.

In this class, students will learn a combination of Parkour, Trampoline and Acrobatics from our experienced coaches. Flips & Tricks gives students an excellent grounding in the basics of acrobatic movement, allowing them to apply this knowledge to trampoline and Parkour, aiding their progress through each of these skills, eventually leading to some awesome flips and tricks! Suitable for ages 7 - 16.
