From the C.I.F.A. we are very happy to offer you that Master Class with Roberto Magro. It will be from 13th to 15th December. The foundation of training for a circus actor is the flexibility of their vocabulary. Compared with theater and dance, circus is an art form lacking in character diversity, and contemporary circus can only be creative if it knows how to transform and bend its vocabulary through specific training. In the hunt for a personalized language a circus vocabulary is needed, distinct from theater and dance, something that is purely circus yet flexible enough to be able to transform an acrobatic action into a lyrical , danced movement or an expression of emotions. The main characteristic of the circus actor is the ability to speak through metaphors in the attempt to reveal unexplored corners of the human soul , with the objective of eliciting new emotions through technique. With the help of physical conditioning, manipulations, gestures, choreographies or movements, all in all , with the help of their body, the circus actor creates images that ask to be deciphered by the spectators and their stagefel lows as well . A true network of realities and disciplines is thus constructed, experimented and consol idated so that the talent of each artist contributes to the imaginary proposal being presented This investigative workshop offers participants the opportunity to discover new paths to explore, of which Roberto serves as a passionate mentor who is always listening.

The human body is the one point all expressions on stage have in common. From dance to circus, music to theater, the body is always the “master of work”. This master class will explore the three principles of a body on stage. The acrobatic body It is powerful, conscious- it takes risks. It turns solid into fluid, it makes the improbable possible. It affirms compromise without concession, and learns to control fatigue. The choreographic body It wishes to be a virtuoso of time, of rhythm and of space. Anyone can strike notes on a piano but few can make music. It attempts to create melodies with its movements. The theatrical body Each body expresses something, whether consciously or unconsciously. The human being is an extraordinary machine capable of reading and interpreting what another expresses. There are fundamental rules and codes that we all accept and understand. This course is designed for all artists from all performing arts disciplines. From the 15th to the 20th of January Florent Bergal: “By giving circus a choreographic dimension and pushing dance towards theater, it can begin to represent humanity and its ways in a tragicomic style, captured within a strong esthetic framework.” Having co-funded the traveling circus, La Rital Brocante, and later the G. Bistaki Collective, Florent Bergal is still active, producing works “in situ” in public spaces. Developing theater in circus on stage as a director of the Cubitus du Manchot trio, My!Laika company, Cirk Vost, and Oktober company are some of the different projects with which he has continued his investigations. He teaches primarily in circus schools in Europe and on the other side of the Atlantic, as well as working as the professor of investigation at Le Lido in Toulouse for the past eight years. From 2016 to 2018 he was an associate artist with La Verrerie d'Alés, the National Pole for Circus Arts in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, as well as being the professor of investigation in the CNAC National Center for Circus Arts in Chalons-en-Champagne. Since 2019 he is one of the main professors at C.I.F.A International Center for Artistic Formation in Spain.

My motivation behind this "Hair Suspension" workshop is to share my 11year’s experience of researching, creating and practicing this ancestral discipline. There is a need to create a technique, some steps to follow in the development and investigation of “Hair Suspension” because of the increasing interest in this ancestral practice. This workshop will be focused on the importance of postural health concerning the care and maintenance of the body in the practice of Hair Suspension. It will also suggest lines of non conventional exploration to create a personal language within this technique. Goals: · Share and practice exercises that involve the Axial and Appendicular Body mainly focusing on the mobility of the spine, specifically on the upper back (neck, chest and shoulder blades). · Share the technique of “the hair knot” and its specifics indispensable to postural health and good development of the technique. · Small investigation of the physical sensations the body experiences for the first time it is suspended from the top of the head and aligned vertically in an extreme extension of the entire spine. At this point we will analyze the body posture in the suspension. . For those with previous experience in this discipline we will do some prospecting for what they would like to develop based on specific topics to investigate. For this we need to get in touch before the workshop, to organize and give each some tasks.
