This piece is a celebration of human complexity, a refusal to nicely packaged and marketable by a niche, and rather to express the fullness of ourselves (myself in this case)
In a world that is currently silencing female voices and oppressing female bodies; I believe of the greatest forms of rebellion is self love & self expression.
As I developed this piece I kept coming back to the question “which parts of me do I want to highlight and share with the audience/public/world”. Each day we all ask this question of ourselves as we navigate various situations and scenarios. So I now present to you my choices, a few aspects of my self. I ask that you view each one as independent, relevant but also connected and unremovable from the whole.
The specific themes I focuses on include power, raw vulnerability, and movement through repetition and spirals. While I recognise struggle, loss and sadness are a deep part of life I choose I intentionally not to include them. Instead I focused on joy, empowerment, beauty and self love
