World Circus Day! - Performing Arts Events - StageLync
This Saturday April 21st, come spread the joy of circus and celebrate World Circus Day and the 250th anniversary of modern circus flash mob style!

Join SANCA and the greater Seattle circus community at the International Fountain in Seattle Center for random acts of circus including juggling, acrobatics, hula hoops, unicycle and more. In addition to a circus flash mob, we will attempt to form a human circle of circus around the entire fountain for a massive, synchronized "Toss Up" of your favorite circus prop(s) (click here for an example of a "Toss Up"). No experience necessary, circus is for every body!

QUICK FACTS:
WHO: You and your favorite circus squad*
WHAT: Circus flash mob + Synchronized "Toss Up" (+ circus Monorail ride???)
WHEN: Saturday, April 21st 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.
WHERE: International Fountain at Seattle Center**
WHY: To spread the joy of circus in one of Seattle's cultural centers

* This is a Bring Your Own Prop event so bring your favorite circus props--juggling balls, rubber chickens, rings, hats...
**INITIAL RALLY POINT at the orca sculptures on the West side of the fountain by Key Arena

SCHEDULE:
5:00 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. - Gather by the orcas on the West side of the fountain -- acro, juggle, circus jam!
5:15 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. - Spread out to encircle the fountain and invite bystanders to participate in a massive "Toss Up"
5:30 p.m. - 5:40 p.m. - "Toss Up" + Slow motion video recording
5:40 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. - Circus jam on the lawn
6:00 p.m. - ? - Fill the monorail with circus on a ride to Westlake?

NOTES:
+ Be safe. Use common sense and know your limits -- don't attempt any skill beyond your experience or skill level or that you wouldn't do without a mat, coach or appropriate safety equipment.
+ Dress up! This is World Circus Day! Acrobats, aerialists, clowns, jugglers, any circus-y outfit you have -- even if it's a rhinestone bowtie! Make-up is a plus!
+ Check the weather report before going out on Saturday - the forecast currently calls for overcast skies and a small chance of rain. Bring an extra layer just in case!
+ Remember: Bring your own prop(s) [BYOP] and maybe one to share with a stranger. Nothing too precious, as we can not be responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items.
+ Share on social media using the hashtags: #worldcircusday2018 #circus250 #sancaseattle #sancacircus #flashmob #seattle

Lastly, if you find yourself saying: "Aw that sounds fun but I can't be there!" -- join us in celebrating wherever you are by sharing a photo or video on social media of you doing a random act of circus wherever you are. Handstands in a hallway? Flips on a fjord? Rolling globe at a bowling alley? And don't forget to tag us @sancaseattle!

We look forward to seeing you there!
