What’s the point of a Producer? w/ Emma Cameron & Alison Woods - Performing Arts Events - StageLync
In this discursive session, we try to discover the answer to the big question:

What is a producer and where do you find one?

We will discuss the dynamics of the producer/artist relationship and talk about:

- How to work together: understanding if it’s a hierarchy or a partnership
- How to get what you need vs what you want: developing a creative dialogue rather than to-do lists
- Building a successful working dynamic: when to commit and when to split

This session will be jointly delivered by Emma Cameron Associate Producer and Alison Woods Executive Director of NoFit State.

Emma is currently Associate Producer for NoFit State where she has overseen the Circus Village project in both Newcastle-under-Lyme and Avignon. Prior to her time with NoFit she co-founded and ran the theatre company Transport and was interim producer at the National Theatre on the Connections festival. She previously worked as a freelance Stage Manager working with companies including Complicité, National Theatre, The Royal Court, Wildworks and the Michael Clark Company.

Alison oversees the strategic development and direction for NoFit State Circus and has supported it to grow into the internationally renowned company we see today. Before joining the company in 2006 she worked as a Director, Producer and General Manager for arts companies both in Wales and internationally.

This session is part of the Transitions Project, a circus artist and teacher development programme, run by NoFit State Circus and funded by the Arts Council of Wales.
