Spin Theory 101: spiral momentum tech with Rachel Strickland - Performing Arts Events - StageLync
Spin Theory 101: Using Spiral momentum (to make your life waaaaay easier)

Have you been fascinated by the artists who can create that beautiful spin in their aerial work, but intimidated to try (or worried that you'll just get dizzy)? Have you wondered what the technique is to master the control of the spin and make it your own?
This workshop is for all levels of aerial practitioner who want to master the art of generating a beautiful spin, and then using that spin to create choreography with ease.

In other words, this is your ticket for fluid spins without riding the struggle-bus all the way to town. All you need is a few tools in your toolbelt and anything done with a spin can be much easier and more fluid, allowing you to freely dance.

This workshop will be offered with several choices of spinning apparatus; trapeze, hoop, hammock, or invented apparatus, so it's open to ALL!

Prerequisites: ability to invert without kicking, confident knee-hangs.

Rachel is a lifelong dancer turned aerialist, choreographer, and variety performer whose backdoor circus education dates back to 2007. A diehard freelancer, she works with a myriad of circus and performance companies across the United States and internationally in Ireland, Australia, and Canada. She seems to be known for spinning fast and doing weird things like dipping herself in water on stage.
Given to excess and quixotic tendencies, Rachel specializes in aerial hoop choreography and the practice of telling stories.
