Performance Team Auditions - Performing Arts Events - StageLync
RoguePlay are very keen to support development of future performers and so are pleased to offer professional training and performance opportunities through our Aerial Theatre Performance Team programme.

The Performance Team is for adults and those aged 16+ who are keen to take their aerial training to a higher level and focus on becoming professional performers. The course aims to support students who are committed to developing a career in the aerial arts, and becoming a high level performer whilst developing their performance experience and repertoire.

The sessions focus on skills development on bars (hoop, & trapeze), verticals (rope, silk & straps) and ground skills (acrobalance & acrobatics), whilst also working with physical theatre techniques, narrative and emotional engagement to devise performance material.

These practical sessions also utilise text based material, such as poetry, devised prose and vocal recordings, as well as imagery and visual stimulus as starting points for creative material, which are then explored through a series of physical theatre and aerial theatre based exercises such as states of tension, discovering real emotion and harnessing narrative through movement and body. Essentially the working practice is influenced by the combination of high level skill development and creative exercises working with the active and passive body. Understanding the implicit ‘active’ parts of the body that require the performer to execute a move whilst at the same time freeing the rest of the ‘non-active’ body to play and move in space, and how this is used to create gestural, emotional and narrative content for performance.

The team will be presented with an array of professional performance opportunities through which to build their experience as well as their CV’s and gain the opportunity for feedback from professionals, peers and audience members. Performance opportunities will take place both indoor and out and will be delivered in a professional context. Participants will also be given space to follow their own creativity in developing and working on aerial theatre material.

The course runs in blocks of 10 weeks, with sessions taking place for 2 hours every Thursday from 6-8pm.
