International Residency Initiatives Scheme

Irish Aerial Creation Centre is delighted to take part in the Arts Council’s new International Residency Initiatives Scheme. IACC: New Horizons will be two residency exchanges; one for vertical dancers to Amelia Rudolph (founder of Bandaloop) in California, and one for aerialists to Centre de Création in South West France.

France – Ireland Aerial Dance Residency

IACC is working in partnership with centre de création in Southwest France. The artistic direction of the centre is led by Abigail Yeates. Abigail has worked as a performer, choreographer, and director over the past 30 years, specialising in contemporary circus and has directed numerous events, projects and shows around the world from original touring theatre to large scale, stadium and live shows including productions for Stufish in the UK, China and the UAE. The vision of centre de création is to grow into a diverse programme that is at the heart of the local cultural community giving access to all forms of live arts, creative research for professional development and retreat opportunities. The centre programmes and supports artists in residence and annually hosts Guildhall School of Speech and Drama. Abigail is also artistic director of ‘redfest’ a festival of original work in (circus, dance, theatre). Abigail also works for Anystage Creative as their creative director.

We are looking for a group of 2-3 French-based or French-born aerialists with at least 2-3 years experience in aerial dance to apply to this wonderful opportunity. These artists will work collaboratively as a group.

The dates you must be available are as follows:

17th to 23rd April 2023, travel to Ireland residency in IACC.
8th to 14th May 2023, residency at CDC. This may depend on the times/days of flights.
This opportunity includes travel*, accommodation, per diems**, and a fee of €1200 per artist. *Travel is calculated on the artist being based in Ireland. **Due to the remote location of CDC, there will be a chef providing 3 meals a day, therefore there are no per diems while in France.

The residency will include time spent in France at the CDC with Irish aerialists, and time spent in Ireland in IACC with the same Irish aerialists.

To apply, please complete this form:

https://forms.gle/gAKHC4ochPYyLZoC8 – Deadline for applications is 25th January 2023. Results by 30th January. Artists will sign a contract committing them to the dates, and flights will be booked in February. Artists should apply individually, but answer the question asking who their group is, if relevant.
