Raw, anarchic and highly skilled My!Laika bring Popcorn Machine to the U.K for the first time.
In a post-apocalyptic universe, My!Laika unites four international artists who share an absurd and often Dadaistic sense of humour. The winners of the JTCE prize 2010 leave the realm of pure circus and venture into performance and music, creating a turbulent collage that has little in common with the current “cliché” which is circus.

Their skills create bizarre theatrical situations and provoke a chaos of feelings: making audiences laugh when they should really cry and cry when they expect to laugh.

My!Laika are inspired by the classical circus disciplines, dance and rugby, as well as elevator music and the colour of Angela Merkel’s blouse.
Their list of muses is endless. Jacky Chan, Samuel Beckett, Lady Di, Frédéric Chopin, Elvira Hancock and Frank Zappa, Star Treck, Fellini, The Ramones and Toni Bonetta all inspire their artistic work.

They play live music performing their kunst-cirque (literally art circus) in a way that gets the spectator lost in a chaos of sensations.

My!Laika travelled from their base in Toulouse for a year and a half to create Popcorn Machine, traversing 10 countries. Inspired by the performers cultural heritage (Italian, German, Dutch and Argentinian).

“A Dadaist cabaret of meticulously orchestrated chaos. Loco, loco, loco!” El Pais
