How to be a Villain - Performing Arts Events - StageLync
You must check out a brand new offering at The Clown School: How to Be a Villain. Through clown, we will explore the delicious fun playing a great villain. Students will work with scripted material, improvisations, and devise their own villain characters!

The villain is just the “bad guy,” the one who comes up with diabolical plots to somehow cause harm or ruin, right? Through the comedic perspective of a “how-to” class we study the role of a villain as an archetype and explore the necessity of villain in story telling through a wide mix of media: exploring theatre scripts, books, short stories, films, television and more. Villains are an important component in any work of literature. Without the villain, we wouldn’t see how good the hero is; we wouldn’t understand the dangers and conflict a community or person is facing, and we wouldn’t have someone to hate and blame for all the problems. By exploring the role of the villain in this comedic way, we can explore how themes of morality and ethics are not always as cut and dry as they seem.
