Hand to Hand Exploration – w/Abby & Luca
Sunday, May 28, 10:00am – 1:00pm
$75

In this workshop we will be covering the basics of basing and flying for hand to hand while working on trust and body communication. After an initial “technical” part we will focus on guided experimentation and explore the different possibilities that hand to hand offers as a circus discipline, both physically and theatrically.

Luca and Abby are a hand to hand duo that will be in Philadelphia giving workshops at Circadium in the beginning of June. They were formed at the Fratellini school in Paris and have been giving workshops semi-regularly between performing and creating.

After meeting at the FLIC circus school in Turin, Italy in 2012, Abby Neuberger and Luca Bernini began training partner acrobatics and hand to hand together. At FLIC, Abby (originally from Virginia) and Luca (originally from Tuscany) began to combine theater techniques with their acrobatic research to create a unique physical vocabulary. In 2014, the duo entered the Académie Fratellini in Paris where they continued to train their hand to hand technique. During their time at Fratellini, Luca and Abby also continued to develop their personal research within the hand to hand discipline, drawing inspiration from their somewhat absurd and fantastical imaginations.

After graduating in 2017, Abby and Luca founded the Keep Company and created their first show, Compost, while also performing with other professional circus companies across Europe (Compañia de circo Eia, Les Eoliennes). They are currently creating their second show Underfoot.
