December Unconference - Performing Arts Events - StageLync
The CircusWork Un-Conference is a coming together of youth circus trainers, managers, researchers, fundraisers, educators, artists, philosophers and advocates. We will be learning, listening, debating, researching and inspiring each other to find a way forward in a post-covid world. Come and join us to chat, learn, play and see friends.
CircusWorks Members get 50% off tickets. If you haven't received a discount code email us on [email protected]
Decembers sessions include:
Juggling with Jay Gilligan. Contemporary juggling ideas exploring concepts through simple tricks that are accessible to anyone. All skill levels are welcome! These will be new juggling ideas which can be applied to any sort of technique and prop. The class will be taught using juggling balls, participants should ideally have 5 balls at their disposal (please note: you do NOT have to be able to juggle 5 balls to join in this session).
Circus in Schools- An exploation of different models of taking circus into schools. With Teo Greenstreet from Greentop and Ian Owens founder of Albert and Friends Instant Circus. We'll be looking at how circus can be introduced to schools, including integrating circus into the curriculum, and use of new technology to support online projects
Funding- We'll talk about what funding is available for youth circuses, where to look, how to apply, and how to make your applications successful.
Taking Social Circus Online- Simon Llewellyn from Soren Circus in Finland will be joined by Peter Duncan and other social circus practitioners to see how social circus can be taught online, particularly to beginners.
The Unconference takes place across multiple rooms which you navigate yourself. Listen to international speakers in the Firetoys Hall, join a discussion in the Lounge, call into the Phoenix room to hear about the latest Covid developments or call into the Playground for workshops and games.
You can take a look at the resources we have gathered in the Library, or call into the Coffee Pot for tea and sympathy.
After the event we have a choice of two conference pubs, The Jugglers Arms and the Clown’s Head you can call into and chat with friends
There’s even a shop where you can check out new and 2nd hand equipment from Performers Without Borders, and Firetoys
