Corps et esprit clownesque - Performing Arts Events - StageLync
Body language is essential to the art of clowning and is a key element in the development and creation of characters. This workshop covers pantomime techniques, pantomime blanche, mime, Neutral Mask, storytelling and sound making. It will also focus on different styles and registers of contemporary clowning, mainly related to the poetic aspect, the material aspect, and to mimicry techniques. By analyzing movement in depth, participants will development a heightened awareness of rhythm. They will develop tools to adjust their work as needed for the effects they wish to make on stage.

More specifically, the workshop will include:

- A physical warm-up using the Feldenkrais method, aiming for optimal physical preparation to enable performers to communicate clear and precise intentions on stage
- LeCoq method exercises to prepare performers for physical acting
- Exercises based on mime, pantomime and Neutral Mask techniques
- Creativity stimulation exercises through solo, duo and group work: story telling and story developing in silence, with sound effects, and with body language and emotions
- Working with the Neutral Mask method drawing on elements, materials, colors, lights and animals

By the end of the workshop, participants will have explored various clowning techniques and will be able to make stronger choices in their own creations and on stage.
