Circomedia - MA in Directing Circus - Open Day Event - Performing Arts Events - StageLync
MA in Directing Circus- Open Day Event-
Friday 29th March 2019

Our MA in Directing Circus is the first of its kind in the world. The MA has been developed to address a recognised need across the global circus community to create and support a new kind of performance director – one who is aware of the possibilities and limitations of using circus techniques in an artistic context.

The day will be split into 2 parts:

Part 1 is based at the training academy: Come and watch some live work directed by the current MA cohort, chat to staff and students regarding the course, see the facilities and learn more about the Leverhulme Scholarship.

Part 2 is at Circomedia, St Pauls Church: For those who attend the first part of the day, you will receive a free ticket to see KNOT BY Nikki and JD and attend a post-show discussion with the cast. It also offers you the chance to see both Circomedia venues.

Physically exhilarating and touchingly poignant, Knot is a finely crafted theatrical journey through the struggles of commitment. Created in collaboration with award-winning choreographer Ben Duke of Lost Dog Dance Company, Knot is a very modern affair told with delicate sensitivity through breath-taking acrobatics and heart wrenching dance. Knot is the internationally acclaimed circus and dance work by Nikki Rummer and JD Broussé. These talented performers use hand-to-hand circus skills to tell the tale of an impossible choice: How can we be honest with ourselves without hurting those we love?
