Tracie Stanfield is an award-winning choreographer, producer, educator, and creative consultant based in New York City, and the Founder and Artistic Director of SynthesisDANCE. Her multidisciplinary practice spans concert dance, theater, and immersive performance, with a focus on fostering bold, expressive work and supporting artists across all stages of their careers.
As a producer, Stanfield has created, developed and led productions, festivals, and artistic initiatives at esteemed institutions including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, BAM Fisher, Symphony Space, DiCapo Opera Theatre, and Gelsey Kirkland Performing Arts Center. Her dance projects have toured extensively throughout the United States and internationally, including engagements in Mexico, Argentina, and beyond, reflecting a commitment to cross-cultural artistic exchange.
Stanfield’s choreographic work has been presented widely in New York and abroad, with performances at venues such as the Brooklyn Museum, Bryant Park, and international festivals in Spain, Scotland, Brazil, Russia, Ireland, and Mexico. Her commissions span universities, opera companies, and dance institutions, and her work for film and media includes collaborations with directors and production companies across commercial and artistic platforms.
Stanfield has held leadership and advisory roles with organizations dedicated to advancing the field, including as Founding Artistic Director of the Brooklyn Dance Festival and as an advisory board member for the Young Choreographers’ Festival. Her work has been featured in Dance Magazine, Dance Spirit, Dance Teacher, and Dance Informa, and has been praised for its dynamic fusion of contemporary and classical forms.
A dedicated mentor and advocate for artists, Stanfield curates and leads mentorship programs, residencies, and professional development initiatives both nationally and internationally. Her work centers on empowering creatives through individualized guidance, artistic strategy, and sustainable career development. She has served as an advisor and collaborator for emerging companies, educational institutions, and arts organizations, with a focus on cultivating the next generation of artists and audiences.
As an educator, Stanfield has been recognized by Dance Spirit Magazine as one of the “Nine DanceMakers Making History.” She is on faculty at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center, and is the Founding Co-Director of Pipeline Dance Training, a pre-professional conservatory for concert dancers. Teaching highlights include residencies at Bear River High School (CA) and Frank Sinatra School of the Arts (NY). Her teaching and training programs have been presented worldwide, including at The Joffrey Ballet, Yale University, Marymount Manhattan and leading institutions across the United States and Latin America.
