Leela is a French circus artist, actress and singer based in Berlin.
Trained at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque in Brussels. ESAC.
Her creations are characterised by an atmosphere of freedom and joy, and an ability to establishan intimate connection with the audience. The waves of madness are channelled through a systematic creative process, giving her proposals a deep sense of personality and originality. She is particularly interested in the protagonist's emotions and their progressive evolution. The reinterpretation of artistic codes (stage material, artistic vocabulary, circus props) and social norms (e.g. status relations, glamour, expertise) is also one of her creative particularities.
She initially worked mainly in France, Belgium and Switzerland. The contemporary circus has found a special place in her heart. She joined and founded several companies as a circus artist (aerial rope, trapeze, flying rope) and as a singer and musician (slide trombone, Bugle, drums).
A turning point came after her first contract in Germany, following an intensive year of touring for the GOP variety show. She fell in love with the city of Berlin. This opened the door to many new experiences and collaborations with different directors for variety and cabaret productions: Wet the Show, Café Hahn, Palazzo varieté...
She created the numbers "Fly me! (aerial hoop, singing clown) and "Feeling" (singing and clowning), both directed by Frédéric Blin, famous clown of the French company Les Chiche Capon.
With Vénus Rétrograde, she starts her first solo performance.
