Sidonie Adamson is a circus artist specializing in aerial hoop, duo aerial hoop and a unique multi-rope apparatus she calls Cascordes.
Her training in Circus arts began at CircusWest in Vancouver BC and then led her to search out private training with some of the industry’s top coaches including Sarah Poole, Veronique Thibeault, PJ Perry and Genevieve Bessette.
Her lifetime in creative athletics and performing arts has seen her perform across three continents with notable organizations such as Les Sept Doigts de La Main, St. John’s Circus Fest, and Anystage Productions. She has lit up stages as a circus artist, hung from trees as a vertical dancer, performed in international festivals, curated and produced cross-continental shows, and dazzled as an aerialist for outrageously expensive weddings.
Recent projects include multiple creative residencies with Les Sept Doigts dela Main on the LiViCi project in Vancouver BC, curation and co production for the 2021 Transform Cabaret digital circus show "Connective T/Issue," and the Edge of The World Cabaret at the 2022 St John's International Circus Festival.
Sidonie is described as a creative, graceful and often funny performer. All of her acts contain a high degree of personal research and unique to her technical sequencing. She is an unapologetic advocate for over splits and fast spins and her acts range from contemporary to sexy to downright fun. One of her favourite and yet most terrifying opportunities was performing in L' Impro Cirque in 2019.
One of Sidonie's "pandemic projects" was to delve into the world of burlesque. Working with top coaches and performers in Vancouver's acclaimed burlesque scene such as Ariel Helvetica and Cherry on Top, Sidonie made her solo debut in December 2021 with a burlesque aerial hoop number.
In 2014 Sidonie began developing a duo hoop act with partner Tanya Burka. After several years of development in between other contracts they applied and received funding from the Canada Arts Council for dedicated research and development in 2021. The act showcases unique and never seen before shapes and pushes the boundaries of what is typically seen in female duo hoop work. The act debuted at the 2022 St John's International Circus Festival to rave reviews.
Outside of performing, Sidonie is an accomplished coach working with aerialists and stunt athletes to level up their technical and creative skills while maintaining a focus on longevity and health. She is a self confessed biomechanics nerd and loves all things fascia and nervous system related. She is based in Vancouver, Canada and loves the outdoors, sewing and anything cat related.
