Sara Gosses designs with light and space for live performance, events, and visual displays. She’s designed lighting for over 35 world premieres and new adaptations at venues including MoMA PS1 (LIC, NY), HERE Arts Center (NY, NY), Studebaker Theater (CHI), and houses on Governors Island (NY, NY). Sara is a frequent collaborator with Exquisite Corpse Company and Circus Smirkus.
Through Sara’s work with Saks Fifth Avenue she has designed for brands including Chanel, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Ritz Carlton, Valentino and Off-White, among others. Sara designed and installed the lighting for 2018, 2019, and 2021 Holiday Windows, including the Frozen 2 collaboration with Disney.
Sara’s work as an associate and an assistant designer has given her the opportunity to work at many of her favorite theaters including, but not limited to: The Public Theater, Vineyard Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Court Theatre, Geffen Playhouse and New York Theatre Workshop.
Sara is currently an Assistant Professor at Michigan Technological University.
Sara received her MFA in Stage Design at Northwestern University and her BA from Hope College.
