I'm a 5th generation circus performer and specialize in all forms of aerial acrobatics. I created my own flying trapeze act called The Flying Rodleighs which included multiple catchers, a high bar and a Russian swing. My flying team toured to 20 different countries and performed with 25 different circus companies between 1984 and 1998. I took the position as head coach at Zip Zap Circus school in South Africa for two years. In 2001, I immigrated to Gold Coast, Australia and opened my own circus school called Trix Circus, where I produced annual circus shows and taught a large variety of circus skills, including flying trapeze. In 2014, I returned to touring circus for three years, performing on Stardust Circus where I based a duo trapeze act with my wife and caught for the flying trapeze act. I retired from performing due to injury. I took the position of head coach for Sailor Circus in Florida in 2017, but left in August of that year, following a successful production of shows presented at the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival in Washington DC in July. I moved to Montreal and enrolled into the Professional Trainers Course offered at Ecole National du Cirque, specializing in swinging trapeze, cloud swing and straps being taught by master coach Victor Fomine. After completing the course in June 2018, I started coaching for Cirque du Soleil, my first project being the training of the high bar and catcher act for the remounting of the iconic show "Alegria". I currently do temporary coaching at Cirque du Soleil at their headquarters and do replacement coaching for Ecole National de Cirque, teaching a large variety of different circus disciplines.
