I am Riccardo Marracini, a circus artist and performer specializing in Chinese pole. With a foundation from Balthazar circus school in France and further refinement at Fontys Circus and Performance Arts (ACaPA) in the Netherlands, my journey in circus arts has been a blend of technical precision and creative exploration. While initially drawn to acrobatics, I discovered my passion for the Chinese pole, a discipline that lets me challenge physical boundaries and explore the surreal through stagecraft.
My work centers on transforming the audience's perception of reality. I combine movement with innovative rigging, soundscapes, and lighting to play with concepts like gravity, time, and space. My current project, Nusquam, originated as a graduation act and has since expanded to explore illusions and altered realities, pushing the boundaries of immersive performance.
Beyond my solo work, I am part of a Chinese pole collective where we experiment with music and light, integrating automation and optical fibers to create an 'optical fiber jungle.' Our vision is to evoke a sense of euphoria and connection akin to music festivals, blending our movements directly with dynamic lighting effects.
In addition, I am drawn to collaborations that engage with new technologies and unique spaces. I am especially interested in how AI and digital tools can enhance art, expanding creative horizons while showcasing the collaborative potential of technology and human expression.
