René Frotscher (also known as “Rene-Mazing”) was born in Nuremberg, Germany and moved to the UK with his family at the tender age of six where he grew up and spent the next 18 years of his life.
He's been performing close-up magic for over 30 years, first as a resident magician in several restaurants in and around London, and later at corporate events, trade fairs, product launches and conferences all over Europe. He also has a solo-show that he performs regularly at the Heppel & Ettlich Theatre in Munich and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
René enjoys making the impossible possible and seeing the reactions of his audience whilst performing his magic very close up. His sense of humour, natural wit, ability to ad lib and perform in a multitude of languages makes him unique in the business.
Rene grew up bilingually in London and later completed a BA (Hons.) degree course in French and Spanish and continues to speak these languages in his shows. Immediately after his language degree, he spent two years teaching English in Osaka, Japan and learnt Japanese fairly quickly as it was already his fifth language! René has been based in Munich since 1996.
Among his trademark tricks are a card that mysteriously rises from the pack, a signed banknote that ends up inside a previously-examined tomato and a card that ends up stuck to the ceiling.
René performed at Hollywood's Magic Castle in 2019 and on Britain's got Talent in 2020.
