Myrto Meletiou is a performer (dancer/singer/actress) who has started her dancing and singing career at the age of five, by taking part in many musicals, in cooperation with the Russian Cultural Center and the British Association of Actors and Actresses. Her dance and singing style is greatly influenced by Soul, Rock, Pop, R&B and Funk music.
She has 2 degrees, a BA in Psychology from EUC, and a Certificate in Dance and Vocal Performance from Broadway Dance Center, New York, with a minor in Theater studies.
For the past 9 years, Myrto has been teaching Zumba® Fitness all over Cyprus and abroad.
In 2012, she was selected by Zumba® Fitness LLC as one of their choreographers (Jammers), and in August of that same year won her way into the biggest Zumba® Fitness Charity Concert to be held in Orlando, Florida, as a singer/dancer. For one and a half month, she lived and rehearsed in Miami next to Beto Perez – the founder of the program – and his team.
Winning the crowd’s enthusiasm and love, Myrto began her cooperation with Zumba® Fitness LLC as a touring artist, and for 3 years traveled with them all over the world, dancing and singing next to famous singers, such as SEAN PAUL, PITBULL, Lil-Jon, Vanilla Ice, Why Clef Jean, Victoria Justice, J. Perry, Mara, and more.
Myrto released her first Zumba® song entitled “Marioneta” in 2013, which became the biggest hit among the Zumba® fans with over 4 million hits on youtube. She released 5 more songs after that with Zumba® (“O.P.A”, “Hey Alicia”, “Maga-zin”, “Take Me There”, “Love on Me”), as well as 7 songs of her own (“Fly Away” which became a local hit at the time occupying the 2nd place in the Top Charts for Radio and TV in Cyprus, “No disguise”, “Calling”, “Asia Minor”, “Deep in my mind”, “Let Yourself Go”, and “Without You”).
Myrto’s career however, started back in 2001, when she took part in a music reality called “POP-STARS”, winning a place in the final 12 and signing a 5-year contract with Warner Productions in Greece. She also worked as a songwriter and lyricist, and accepted a proposal to become the editor of the first literary magazine for young Cypriots, published by her former University. Her poems and stories received many awards and where published 5 times in anthologies in Luxembourg, Malta, and Cyprus.
When Myrto was in in New York she was invited to become a member of the group “Urban Sun”. However, after attending a 3-month audition trial by Wisdom Entertainment, she was chosen as one of the 3 members of a girl band.
After two years of performing in New York City, Myrto packs everything and sets for Europe, where she performs with her band in Greece and Italy, always seeking for new challenges and exciting experiences.
Myrto has cooperated with many artists and producers since then, producing and releasing songs as part of compilation CDs in Greece, Europe and New York. She has lent her voice for a children’s show called “My Life” for CYBBC (2011), for the MAC DONALD’S commercial (2010), and to record one song for the album of the band “Wintersverge”. Among her most recent projects were also the musicals “The Producers”, “Gourouniasmata”, and “Peter Pan”.
The past 2 years she has taken part in the TV Show "DANSING FOR YOU" (similar to dancing with the Stars), as a vocal coach for the famous Greek actor Alexandros Parissis and for Cypriot actor Constantinos Gavriel. Myrto and Alexandros have won the audience's love, along with some of the highest marks from the judges, and reached to the finals winning second place.
Right now, Myrto is one of Zumba’s emerging artists and continues to travel with the company, as well as on her own, performing in Conventions and Concerts all over the world.
