Here's the tale of how I became entranced by the world of circus skills. It all started back at Great Georges Project (The Black-E) in Liverpool. The Black-E attracted volunteers from all around the world with an amazing variety of skills and talents. Quite a few were eye catching jugglers and only too keen to share their enthusiasm for juggling. This is when I fell in love with the art of juggling.
At first I borrowed other people's bean bags and quickly learned how to juggle three balls smoothly. Not satisfied with this I started to experiment with different throws, catches, patterns and developed a series of three ball tricks. Despite not having made use of my circus/juggling skills over most of the last 25+ years, I've developed some simple routines, learned a few four ball tricks and honed a sound five ball cascade pattern (until a puff of wind comes along).
And from there I have spent oodles of time practising new circus skills, learning how to use different types of equipment - mostly balls/bean bags/diabolo with a sprinkling of plate/devil sticks - for over 20 years. I have performed in parks, community centres, schools, places of worship, city centres and anywhere there is a space to juggle.
Since 2018 I've been looking to spread the joy of juggling through my website, direct marketing and social media channels - Martin's Circus Skills Workshops - offering workshops, drop in sessions, schools clubs, parties, festivals and other celebrations.
Over this time I've also developed my skills as a balloon modeller and a performer of simple magic tricks which produce big effects.
I post regular need material to my youtube channel, so be sure to check it out. You can also follow me on twitter.
