Makayla is an Ohio and NYC-based actor that was born and raised in a small town, Newton Falls, Ohio. She first fell in love with performing in a movie theater screening Anastasia, and spent the next month singing and dancing around the house. She also read the Little House on the Prarie Books cover to cover, which lead her to play her childhood dream role of Laura Ingalls at a local playhouse. She trained and competed in dance at Center Stage Dance Studio and the Ohio Conservatory of Ballet, and studied musical theater with Liz Rubino Studios. This blossomed into a love of performing in all facets; acting, dancing, and singing.
In 2015, Makayla graduated Magna Cum Laude from Belmont University with a BFA in Musical Theater. She performed in many musicals and dance shows, including the Vanderbilt Dance Theater. Some of her favorite roles to date include Val in A Chorus Line, Ado Annie in Oklahoma, Jean Harlow in Chasing Rainbows, Sandy in Grease, and "Cyd Charisse" in Singin' In The Rain. In the past, she enjoyed performing in the premiere Grand Ole Opry cast of How the Grinch Stole Christmas the Musical as Punky/Reno, and performing on the Disney Dream as the female swing! This past year, Makayla toured with the National Tour of A Chorus Line, working with Baayork Lee.
Makayla is most passionate about giving back to the community through volunteering for charity events and children's hospitals as an entertainer. She is also passionate about fitness and nutrition, and has completed her 600-Hour Comprehensive Certification in Pilates as well as a Level 1 bodyART Certification. She also works as a dance teacher, choreographer, acting coach, and vocal instructor. She also enjoys cycling, swimming, yoga, and kickboxing to stay in shape. Her other hobbies include ballroom dancing, mermaids, snorkeling, overalls, coffee, beaches, traveling, and making the world a more beautiful place to live
