Maia Castro-Santos

Maia Castro-Santos is a circus artist specializing in hula hoops and aerial hoop. She fell in love with the physical challenge and creative possibilities of her disciplines when she began her training at eight years old at the New England Center for Circus Arts. She toured with Circus Smirkus as a teenager and studied Cognitive Science at Columbia University before leaving school to pursue circus arts full time. Maia has worked for companies across the US, and she currently hops between her home base in Vermont and performing for Spiegelworld at "The Hook". She has collaborated with the classical music community, performing for the Gainseville Symphony Orchestra and Opera Vermont. Playful, dangerous, and passionate – she inspires audiences with infectious joy and ferocity.
