The Initiative Neuer Zirkus e.V. (Initiative for new circus) is a network and information platform for all professionals in the field of contemporary circus. As well as contact from the sector for politics, media and research matters.
The INZ is operating first and foremost in Germany, but seeks to spread its network on an international level.
We are connecting and collecting information regarding the scene and publish them open for all to access on our website and facebook page as well as through regular newsletters and flyers.
We work for the visibility of contemporary circus as part of the performing arts and publish amongst others a circus mapping and calendar on our website.
Furthermore we coordinate several so called 'Städtepole' (city-pools') overall Germany to help develop the contemporary circus scene on a local level.
In the formats of our 'Round Tables' we connect locals to meet up and exchange experience and share resources. The RT exist in 9 German cities.
The INZ among with partners published the manifesto of contemporary circus in Germany demanding :
1. recognition as an art form among the other performing arts by politics and the art sector.
2. Contact person and advocate for the art form in cultural institutions and politics
3. equal treatment in public funding and equal support in the process
4. equal access to venues and stages
5. equal access to cultural infrastructure: cultural spaces, rehearsal and creational spaces
