I was born in Czech Republic and began my studies at the National Dance Conservatory in Prague. I have always felt the need to freely express myself through dance and from the start I’ve been determined to do whatever necessary to succeed in my pursuit. At the age of fourteen I took my first big step into the unknown and left my family to study in Switzerland at the Maurice Béjart’s school, and then at the Hoschule für Kunst und Musik in Germany, which would determine the course of my career.
Armed with an education in classical and contemporary dance, I went on to perform professionally internationally, traveling the entire world with my passion, finally arriving in Montreal
in 2011 and recently becoming a Canadian citizen.
My experience as interpreter for 12 years includes different repertoires with major international dance companies like Béjart Ballet, Bayerische Staatsoper, Ballet du Rhin, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Nord I Dans and Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal. I always knew that one day I wanted to become a choreographer. Along with my career as an interpreter, I developed my own
choreographic language, which slowly led to the foundation of my own project-based company,
Kolarova Danse in 2015, in Montreal.
As a choreographer I have presented short pieces within many festivals; Golden Prague ( 2011 ), Festival Quartier Danse (2014,2017,2018), Festival Vue sur la Relève (2015), Metamorphosis Studio 303 (2014), Festival des Arts Saint-Sauveur (2017,2018) and the DICFE International Dance Festival in Daegu, South Korea (2018), where I received the best Choreography prize.
I was commissioned to create works between 15 and 30 minutes for the company Le Ballet du Rhin, Conservatoire de danse de St-Louis in France (2010), Springboard (emerging choreographers, 2017) and for the junior company “KARTS” in Seoul, South Korea (2018).
I have self-produced and choreographed three full feature shows here in Montreal; Metamorphosis for Love in Theatre La Chapelle ( 2012 ), Fragmented Mind (2016) and Blue Dependence (2017) in Cinquième Salle, Place des Arts. And I created a choreographic platform LocalMotion Lab, which had its world premiere in Salle Rouge, Wilder Building (March, 2019).
I also teach classical and contemporary dance technique, gave contemporary workshops in different countries and recently was invited as a guest professor and choreographer at Korean National University for Arts in Seoul ( March till June 2018 ).
