Eliana has been tumbling, bending, and climbing on whatever she could ever since starting gymnastics at the age of four. Only eight years later, her acrobatic skill begin to lead her toward a future career as she joined the Splash Circus/ Circus Spire Youth Performance Troupe (Emeryville/ Oakland, CA, USA). During her circus formation, she developed an aptitude for bar-based aerials, focusing on static trapeze, dance trapeze, and aerial hoop. Eliana continued performing as a professional independent aerialist in Vancouver. Since her move to Europe in 2018, she has graced European stages from Helsinki to Berlin. She founded the klezmer-circus ensemble "Tsirk Dobranotch" in collaboration with the world-renowned klezmer band Dobranotch; their first production "Das fliegende Balagan" premiered in Dresden in 2023.
Eliana has more than fifteen years of experience coaching various circus disciplines through courses and workshops in the United States, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Finland, and Estonia. With unique teaching methods and specialties in musicality, choreography and creative movement, Eliana brings individual attention to her students and helps them to achieve their own goals. She also holds experience in choreographing both floor and aerial solo and group acts, and has directed a number of full circus productions with various companies and organizations.
Eliana is also a professional Yiddish singer (trained as a Baroque mezzo-soprano), a Yiddish folk dancer, and a visual, conceptual and performance artist. She holds a BA in Indigenous and Western Art History and Visual Art (printmaking) from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Fine Arts from HEAD-Geneva and the Weissensee Kunsthochschule Berlin. She holds German, Canadian and American citizenship and is fluent in English, French and German.
