I am a recent graduate of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Costume construction and associated crafts and also pattern cutting at Savile Row Academy. I have gathered a variety of skills from the courses and also from past experiences such as work experience with DSI London on Strictly Come Dancing the Halloween special.
My past work experience such as working on ‘Clockwork Orange’ provided me with the knowledge of a safe and efficient get in/out, the duties of dressers, sourcing, breaking down and laundry. My work experience on short films and work experience with touring wardrobe at the Welsh National Opera have provided me with design knowledge and professionalism along with my part time work as a customer assistant.
My experience in customer service is a fine example of my ability to problem solve and work well individually and as part of a team. This work also displays my strong work ethic and motivation to succeed.
My work as a student representative for the degree course has provided me with very good organizational skills and efficiency along with communication and planning ahead. The course itself has given me extensive knowledge of costume and period with high standard of construction skills including hand work and using domestic and industrial machinery.
I am confident that I could fulfil this role to a high standard. I would love the opportunity to be considered for this job. My passion is within finding semiotics within the costume to reflect characters history and personality.
I am currently working at Lapland UK until Christmas as a wardrobe assistant, and am thoroughly enjoying the experience. I am gaining many new skills here which will be transferable. I am also trained in prop making and millinery, and will receive wig training while at Lapland UK.
Sincerely
Elen Williams
