My name is Darren Michael Charles. I am a Creative Artistic Director/Choreographer and GSM with over 25 years of professional experience in dance, theater, choreography, circus arts, and equestrian arts. For 7 years I had the privilege of touring as Choreographer and Creative Director for Cavalia, the North American tour of Odysseo, one of the biggest touring shows in the world. My versatility and wealth of experience have allowed me to take on various projects. I worked with Cirque Du Soleil on a new show called BAZZAR as Artistic Director /General stage manager and most recently in 2022, I worked with MSC Cruises as a Stage Operations Director for the installation of their show “SWEET” and their new production “STRINGS'' Produced by “TED” & Carousel Productions.
I had a very successful professional dance and teaching career working with many companies around the world in all styles of dance, drama, physical theater, and staging. I have a huge interest in Creative Direction and Choreography and have a great understanding of musicality and interpretation through technicalities and movement. I like to work on any scale of production. I love to work as a Circus and Dance consultant to get the best artistic integrity from the performers and artistic quality.
Over time I have had wonderful opportunities and gained vast experience in all aspects of Theatrical productions working with technical teams and stage management, I work very well with large groups of people and Directors. I was responsible for over 50 Artists including Dancers, Acrobats, Equestrians, Aerialists, Musicians, and technicians for various shows. During the creation process, I am able to rise to any challenges that occur when working with a large team and I thrive in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment and artistic vision.
I am very hard working, understanding, and sensitive to the ‘environment I work in’. I take responsibility for the well-being of artists and technical teams. As a Choreographer and Creative Director, it is my nature to conduct rehearsals, organize and make sure show quality is with precision and team building. The world of versatility and creativity and performance is my passion.
