About
-
Cloughjordan Circus Club is a youth circus project founded in 2011. We are located in the rural village of Cloughjordan in North Tipperary, young people attend the project from Cloughjordan, as well as local towns and parishes in the area including Nenagh, Moneygall, Borrisokane, Roscrea.
We provide a year round programme of Weekly Circus Workshops for young people aged 8 – 18 yrs. We run two creative projects each year including an annual performance project, as well as masterclasses and creating opportunities for trips and exchanges with other youth circus groups in Ireland.
The programme has four core aims
• To offer young people an opportunity to learn a wide range of challenging circus skills in a supportive, professional teaching environment.
• To offer young people an opportunity and a voice to explore their own creativity
• To develop participants’ sense of self confidence, community and co-operation
• To give young people a positive way to take part in and contribute to their local community. -
Management
The project is a not-for-profit community organisation and managed by a voluntary board. Project Director, Joanna Williams oversees the running of the club and is the lead circus artist at weekly sessions.
