I am a bold and bendy movement artist specializing in dance, flying pole, and aerial hoop. I grew up dancing and performing in musical theatre, and graduated from MacEwan University’s Theatre Arts Program in 2012. Shortly after graduating, I moved to Vancouver to pursue dance and movement professionally. Seeking professional level dance training, I auditioned for a training program called The Dance Initiative, where I trained for two years in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and heels/cabaret. Most recently, my love of movement, endless curiosity, and commitment to discovering what my body is capable of compelled me to begin training in circus arts. I completed The Provincial Performance Preparatory Program based out of CircusWest in Vancouver, where I trained extensively in aerial and ground based circus disciplines.
Over the past decade, I’ve performed in a myriad of wild and wacky capacities, including engagements as a can-can dancer, a gogo dancer, a backup dancer for an ABBA tribute band, an alien performing aerial hoop, and a jellyfish wearing pointe shoes. I’ve been especially involved in the local heels and cabaret scene and routinely perform as a dancer and aerialist at corporate events, in nightlife, and in local cabaret shows.
In addition to my work on stage, I have extensive experience as a dance educator and have had the privilege of teaching hundreds of incredible students. Select teaching credits include Shadbolt Centre for the Arts and Ballet BC.
My time training in the studio is split between creative research on aerial hoop and learning duo aerial pole. I also put in a lot of incredibly unglamorous hours stretching, doing endless scapular push-ups, and spinning very, very fast.
I live in Vancouver with my wonderfully low maintenance cat Pekoe and a collection of astonishingly high maintenance houseplants.
