If you are interested in booking a stay, send us an email. It is helpful to explain a bit about your project, where you're coming from, and some of your goals to get the ball rolling. Below is some information to help explain what we offer.
What is/is not included in the fee?
Residence are responsible for their own food, travel, and any specialized equipment pertaining to their field. Accommodations and communal kitchen/washrooms are included. We offer basic rigging for aerialists consisting of several points throughout the main room that all have ground anchors. Changes to those systems are possible with additional rigging fees.
Is the studio shared with other artists?
Generally, no. You have exclusive use during your stay, and can use it at any time of day you wish. The exception to this would be if you wanted to reduce costs by teaming up with another artist.
Can I get by without a vehicle?
Maybe. We are very rural. It really depends on your length of stay, where you’re coming from, what time of year it is, and what you like to do on your off time. During the summer months there are markets and restaurants close by you could bicycle to. We can help arrange transportation to and from the airport or train station if needed.
Funding I received requires some sort of presentation, is this possible?
Yes. It may require an extra fee but again, it can be part of an open conversation. The aerial and parkour studios, main yard and green spaces have all been used many times for all sorts of showings, filming and presentations.
Do I need my own insurance?
Yes. You can email a copy prior to your arrival.
What are the working spaces like?
The Aerial Room has the highest ceilings at 7.5 meters (25’) with a floor dimension of 20’ x 24’. There is an extra section to this space with a sleeping area that has 12’ ceilings and a footprint of 20’ x 10’. The floor is covered with 2” vinyl mats over concrete with many throw mats of different thicknesses.
The Parkour Gym has sprung gymnastics flooring covering the majority of the space with a jungle gym of bars and throw mats throughout the rest. The room has an overall measurement of 42’ x 29’ with the open space measuring 24’ x 29’.
Our outdoor areas are vast. The yard in front of the main building is home to a large stage area that is 40’ wide x 24’ deep. The stage platform itself is only set up when needed and has a permanent steel rigging frame above it that has a height of 26’. Other areas on the property could also be explored and used for site specific ideas.
What are the accommodations like?
There are several options for accommodation; the aerial studio itself has a sleeping area which is included in your rental fee.
For an additional fee there is a tiny house located directly behind the aerial studio that sleeps 2, and we also have two glamping style canvas tents on the other side of the pond. There is a communal kitchen and washrooms in the main building.
Is this just for circus folks?
No! Circus just happens to be where we came from and the original purpose of the space. We welcome all types of artists; writers, musicians, film makers, visual artists, dancers, actors, anyone looking for a creative space.
