Celeste Gennuso is an aerial acrobat, dancer and teacher. She was born in 1987 in Bahía Blanca, Argentina. She started her dance training studying jazz in different private studios in her hometown, and then began her training in aerial acrobatics, ballet, and contemporary dance. She graduated from the Bachelor of Visual Arts and Teaching in 2011.
As an aerial acrobat, she trained at the school La Arena Circo in Buenos Aires. She took multiple intensive workshops of stage acrobatics with Gerardo Hochman, and Body Harness Movement with Eleonora Dall Asta. In 2018, she was awarded a scholarship by the cultural space Tendal da lapa (SP, Brazil) to take an aerial hoop workshop with Roman Fedin (ESAC Belgium).
In contemporary dance, she trained with Natalia Vik (Norway - Gaga), Kor'sia Company (Italy), Lorena Nogal from La Veronal Company (Barcelona), Constanza Macras (Germany), Iván Haidar, Paula Rodriguez, Alfonso Barón, and Lucía Toker (Argentina), among others. She also studied ballet with Jorgelina Duca and contemporary dance with José Gungolo (Argentina).
She is part of the performing arts company El Despegue, where she co-directed the pieces "Bosquejo", "Por la tangente", and performed "Juana".
She has participated in different shows and festivals such as the International Independent Circus Festival (FICI 2021) in Buenos Aires, and she received an award for a video dance micro-piece at the PRISMA festival (Panama).
Celeste took the course "Direction and staging" at the University of San Martin (UNSAM), Buenos Aires, under the direction of Analía Fedra, and a Circus Arts Training at the Tres de Febrero University (UNTREF) and the French Embassy in Argentina. She has also studied scenic circus arts courses with Agustina Castro and Sofia Galliano (Arg).
In 2021, she was selected by SESC Sao Paulo to participate in the workshop “Poéticas de Circo” (“Circus Poetics”) with Diocelio Barbosa. In December of that year, they published together an e-book with the dramaturgical proposals elaborated there. She participated in the workshop The multifaceted language of dance with the choreographer Constanza Macras (Germany). In 2022 she was selected by the Municipal Theater of Bahía Blanca to attend the Exercises for Stage Direction workshop with Gustavo Tarrío (Arg).
Currently, she continues to work as a teacher of aerial techniques and flexibility applied to kinetic arts, and she keeps researching the performing arts field in intersection with other artistic disciplines.
