Amoukanama

We are a Belgian-Guinean circus couple who founded Amoukanama, Sussu language for 'this cannot break'. We are a hand to hand duo, but also work together with young talent in Guinea to create a new show (with director Anthony Weiss). We have several projects in Belgium and Guinea (as for example building of a circusschool in Guinea) and we invite people to join ! We propose several acts: 

1) Duo Limaniya : 

Nathalie and Alseny take us into their story through original acrobatic figures, hand on hand and dance. Together they discover the spectrum of acrobatics without letting go of each other, where the rhythm is sometimes high, sometimes low. Where we sometimes find tenderness, sometimes passion.

Accompanied by live percussion and music from West Africa

2) Group Act 

We present with a group of Guinean acrobats an act that let children dream of literally flying into the sky. Somersaults, flips, human pyramids and incredibly flexible figures ... Together with the musicians who accompany us on the djembe and the doundoun, we transform the space into a dynamic whirlwind that leaves no one unmoved. Rhythms that are so contagious to the public that they might also start participating? With this act, we travel especially during summer time and perform on all kinds of events (music festivals, worldmarkets, community festivities, circus festivals etc). 

4) New creation :  FA 

We are currently working on the creation of a new show, FA, with artistic director Anthony Weiss. It is directed by Anthony Weiss (who presented Uman at the Avignon festival OFF 2019) from France with our emerging Belgian company: Amoukanama Circus. 

The creation is called FA: A contemporary creation at the crossroads of the cultures of Guinea and the Western world, with a group of acrobats from Conakry and a Belgian artist.

 Slended with a determined step, a youth coming from different horizons,

is going on a quest for a renewal.
Their human alliance prevails on their differences
and they walk together to go beyond …

Encountering themselves and others, they wish to realize a harmonious future and overcome and surpass
potential obstacles for the emergence of a unified and sharing world.

An adventure takes shape and bring us in a grand acrobatic piece
between Africa and the Occidental world.
Paths are multiple but together they will stay, headed towards their dreams.

 Rhythmed by the laughs and the drums of Guinea, while never interrupting a perpetual or
eternal movement, they present to us with high energy,
An Ode to Life radiating a profound human and sacred union.
