Alex Charman is a passionate and well rounded dancer and circus performer, comfortable on stage and is enthusiastic about combining her love of dance with her other passion, circus, which she has also been trained in since a young age. Born in Adelaide, Alex has trained in ballet, contemporary, jazz, circus and aerial apparatus for 19 years and after finishing high school, which included SACE Dance at Gravity Studios, she completed a Bachlour of Creative Arts (performance dance) at the Adelaide College of the Arts.
Alex has performed interstate and overseas in Singapore, San Deigo and Edinburgh, Scotland as well as being a part of the Phillip Glass Trilogy with the State Opera choreographed by Leigh Warren. Locally she has performed in the Adelaide Fringe 2010 to 2018 and in the beginning of 2015 choreographed a piece as a part of the Adelaide College of the Arts' Rip Drag Ruminate premiering as a choreographer in the Adelaide Fringe.
Upon graduating Alex has developed three self devised shows in the 2016 and 2017 Adelaide Fringe. She has just finished a season at the Edinburgh Fringe 2017 and toured around the UK and Europe with a duo circus show accompanied with her acrobatic partner. Upon returning to Australia Alex travelled to the Perth WORLD FRINGE and then the Adelaide Fringe 2018 with new collaborative work, Hand in Hand, which achieved thrilling results including 2 five star reviews.
