Description:
The Texas Shakespeare Festival is a rotating repertory professional theatre in East Texas. Their 2026 season of shows are: Midsummer Night's Dream, Emma, Hamlet, 1776, and The Reluctant Dragon.
May 14 arrive / June 29 depart
$4,000 / up to $300 travel / single occupancy dorm housing / 11 meals a week
Minimum Requirements: MFA in theatre preferred, or 3 years of professional experiences as Wig Master or Assistant Wig Master.
Desired skills include wig design, construction, fronting and ventilating, facial hair construction, wig maintenance, wig and hair styling, and thorough knowledge of period styles.
Responsible for:
● Constructing wigs, hairstyles, and facial hairpieces to meet costume designer's specifications
● Working with Costume Director to establish priorities and working within budget, labor, and time constraints
● Working with Costume Director for purchasing and /or renting wig materials, supplies, and equipment
● Supervising the maintenance of all wigs and hairpieces for a four-show repertory
Duties include:
● Constructing or acquiring wigs and all hairpieces for four shows
● Instructing wardrobe crew members in the maintenance of wigs and all hairpieces
● Pulling wigs and hairpieces from current TSF stock, when possible
● Developing a budget based on designs
● Working within a tight budget and under severe deadlines
● May be asked to assist with hat/makeup related items
● Attending all meetings, rehearsals, and performances as needed
