Job Description Summary

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, invites applications for a 9-month, full-time non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre and Dance with the possibility of renewal for a second year, commencing fall semester 2024. The position is contingent on funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach six (6) courses during the academic year (3:3 load). Teaching areas may include theatre history, dramaturgy, script analysis, and introduction to theatre, in addition to advanced topical seminars. Opportunities to participate in production are not guaranteed, but may be offered, contingent on departmental needs.

Minimum Qualifications

ABD in Theatre history, literature, criticism and/or related field at the time employment begins. Collegiate level teaching experience required. We are looking for a candidate that is committed to teaching undergraduates, and who desires to be part of a compassionate team of educators and practitioners.

The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the U.S. at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
Desired Qualifications

Ph.D. in Theatre at the time of employment is desired.

With approximately 100 majors, the Department of Theatre and Dance offers a B.A. in theatre as well as B.F.A degrees in performance, musical theatre, design & technology, and management. The department is housed in a dedicated theatre facility including a 340-seat house with proscenium/thrust stage, a black box performance space, studio theatre, design studio, fully equipped shops, a dance/movement studio, a vocal studio, a smart classroom, and a computer lab.
