Job Description
For the needs of the MÛ Project, the company La Tournoyante is looking for a person with an atypical profile.
Conducted since 2017, MÛ is a circus research project around magnetic force. It questions our condition of human subject to gravity and seeks to unveil our reality from new perspectives.
By relying on an unprecedented modular device called the Dispesant, which generates situations of "transformed gravity", he innovates by creating new circus and choreographic gestures: through powerful magnets, we act on the bodies of acrobats and on their environment.
To date, it includes four development paths:
- long forms, including a first 1-hour indoor or outdoor (night) show titled Mû, released in January 2020, and a 20-minute intermediate format show titled We don't surprise enough anymore to walk the Earth, released in April 2021, which we see as a form of foreshadowing for the future long creation of Collapsing Land;
- short forms, intended to “poetically inhabit the world”, which includes Small Forms, performances of 7 to 10 minutes presented on different “modules” and designed to inhabit public spaces indoors (industrial wastelands, museums, etc.). ) or outdoors (natural spaces, squares, streets ...), potentially in connection with orders or in situ research, and Impromptus, fixed installations or short ultra-mobile interventions of 2 to 5 minutes, involving only very little material, generally linked to one or more Small Forms, aimed at feeding the spectators' journey in movement to immerse them in the universe of the Mû Project;
- workshops, in short (1 hour) or long (several days) forms, addressed to various audiences (schools, people with social, physical or mental disabilities, elderly people), possibly in connection with a construction process or with a scientific mediation;
- the laboratory being organized into moments of research and development.

Description of the profile sought

- be able to manage logistical and technical elements (maintenance, transport and storage of equipment, management of technical files, relationship with directors reception area techniques, sound and light software management) in an “all-terrain” state of mind
- possess artistic skills (presence on stage, listening, experience of a creative process, generosity)
- be for the less in a good physical condition (strength, agility, endurance), because its role, even if it does not involve particular acrobatic skills, requires aptitudes and a particular spirit of "carrier".
- have construction skills (including metalwork, welding, etc ..., various small crafts)
- experience in the field of circus, street or puppetry arts would be a plus
Concretely, during shows, this person will play a role of "manipulator". She will be in charge of the management and manipulation of the original magnetic devices used to interact with the bodies of circus artists. Sometimes it will be on sight.
During the development and research work on the project, it will also have to repair or manufacture the necessary technical elements (technical improvements on existing devices, construction of small accessories) in line with its role, and to imagine the technical possibilities concrete new types of implantation (especially for in situ work).
Outside the framework of the representations, it will ensure the transport and the proper functioning of the devices (charging of the batteries, minor repairs and maintenance) and will take care (in part) of the questions concerning the logistics or the possibilities of implantation.
His investment in the project is essential. More than a simple performer, this person should be able to get involved as a real collaborator.
The combination of all these skills being relatively rare, the application is open to people who only have some of them, but who wish to "try the adventure" by being part of an innovative approach at the crossroads of questions. artistic and technical.
