A significant touring theatrical production, inspired by the iconic S.E. Hinton novel and Francis Ford Coppola film, is holding auditions for Equity chorus dancers, specifically seeking male-presenting characters. This production delves into themes of class struggle, fractured families, territorial defense, and the stark reality of societal divisions between the 'Haves' and 'Have Nots' in 1967 Tulsa. The creative vision for this show is brought to life by a distinguished team, including music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival (Jonathan Clay & Zach Chance) and Justin Levine, direction by Danya Taymor, choreography by Rick Kuperman & Jeff Kuperman, and music supervision, arrangement, and orchestration by Justin Levine. The book is penned by Adam Rapp with Justin Levine. Set against the backdrop of Tulsa in 1967, the narrative explores a world populated by diverse young individuals. On one side are the 'Greasers'—destitute outlaws, gas station workers, and high school dropouts who have forged a chosen family reflecting the true diversity of Tulsa. They are often rejected due to economic status, gender identity, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or any other facet deemed 'other' by the dominant society. Opposing them are the 'Socs'—the affluent, college-bound, and wealthy. We are actively seeking: * **GREASERS/MALE & FEMALE PRESENTING ENSEMBLE/BOOTH SINGERS & SWINGS**: Individuals of all vocal types with an authentic Americana/Rock sound, capable of portraying Greasers and other featured roles. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in athletic movement and fight choreography. We strongly encourage performers who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latine, API, MENASA, or Mixed to apply for these roles. * **SOCS/MALE & FEMALE PRESENTING ENSEMBLE/BOOTH SINGERS & SWINGS**: Individuals of all vocal types with an Americana/Rock sound, able to embody Socs and other featured parts. Strong athletic movement and fight choreography skills are essential. These roles are open to performers who identify as White. Successful candidates for ensemble roles may also understudy the following principal characters: * **PONYBOY CURTIS**: A 15-year-old introspective dreamer with a cowboy spirit, our narrator and a budding writer. The youngest Greaser, grappling with recent orphanhood and idolizing individualism. * **JOHNNY CADE**: Appears younger than 16. Black, Indigenous, Latine, API, MENASA, or Mixed. Ponyboy's best friend, the most vulnerable Greaser, sensitive, loyal, and suffering from PTSD, finding solace in his chosen family. * **DARREL CURTIS**: 20. The eldest Curtis brother, strong, intelligent, and hardworking, burdened by raising his younger siblings and sacrificing his own future. * **DALLAS DALLY WINSTON**: 19. Black, Indigenous, Latine, API, MENASA, or Mixed. A wily, rebellious, and fiercely loyal outlier from New York's Hell's Kitchen, deeply protective of Ponyboy and Johnny. * **SODAPOP CURTIS**: 17. The charismatic and exceptionally handsome middle Curtis brother, working at a gas station and privately nursing a broken heart. * **SHERRY CHERRY VALANCE**: 17, White. A confident, privileged dreamer who experiences an awakening and displays profound compassion for the Greasers. * **KEITH TWO-BIT MATTHEWS**: 18. Black, Indigenous, Latine, API, MENASA, or Mixed. A strong dancer and natural clown with an infectious sense of humor, fiercely loyal to the Greasers. * **BOB**: 17/18, White. The cocky, charming leader of the Socs, accustomed to privilege and prone to expressing rage through violence. * **PAUL**: 20, White. Physically intimidating, Bob's best friend, a former college football player who masks his insecurities with aggression towards Greasers.
