Job Summary
Stage Manager for a performance touring into primary schools in Southwark and Lambeth
Job Description
Southwark Playhouse are looking for a stage manager for their upcoming primary schools tour of Windrush Child by John Agard.
Adapted especially, a cast of four actors will be multi-rolling in a production including live music and lots of audience interaction.
We are looking for a collaborative and creative stage manager with experience of similar projects, who would also be able to transport and set up the performance in each venue (in transport provided, unless the Stage Manager has access to their own).
The team will visit a max of two schools per day in Southwark and Lambeth. You can return the van to Southwark Playhouse in between shows or keep at your home address if you have access to parking.
Rehearsals: Monday 3rd - Friday 14th June (Monday - Friday, 10am - 6pm)
Performances: Monday 17th June - Friday 28th June (Monday - Friday, max three performances per day at times to be scheduled between 9.00am - 4.00pm).
Fee: £2524
Job Requirements
Experience of stage management, stage technician or sound technician
Interest in theatre for younger audiences.
Enhanced DBS
Full clean driving license
Job Responsibilities
To assist in the smooth running of rehearsals
To take a lead in prop buying and resourcing, as well as petrol for the van, maintaining financial records as required.
To be the point of contact between the rehearsal room and the extended creative team.
To be responsible for the transportation of the show between venues.
To set up and pack down the show (with the support of the team) paying attention to the correct manual handling and health & safety guidelines.
Run and operate each performance.
To care for touring props and to perform minor repairs to props as necessary.
To comply with risk assessments and ensure the health and safety of actors and audience members.
To assist with any other reasonable task to ensure the smooth running of the production
