Description:TheaterWorksUSA is seeking a qualified Head Electrician for its upcoming touring production of Dog Man: The Musical. The production will travel across the United States and Canada, performing at various theaters and concert venues. This position requires a skilled manager who can supervise diverse local crews to ensure all technical elements are executed safely and efficiently.This position reports to TheaterWorksUSA’s New York-based Technical Director (who will not be traveling with the production). The ideal candidate will have strong self-accountability and must be comfortable operating independently. NOTE: This is a touring position that crosses the U.S.-Canada border. A valid U.S. passport is required and must be valid through June 14, 2025. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a manager, head electrician, or supervisor in a theatrical setting REQUIRED: Valid U.S. Passport (must not expire before June 14, 2025) Valid U.S. Driver’s License (any state, must not expire before June 14, 2026) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and draftings Proficiency in programming automated lighting fixtures using an ETC console Familiarity with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of theatrical lighting equipment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities Ability to work calmly under pressure and handle multiple tasks Experience running automated lighting rigs during performances Thorough knowledge of theatrical fly systems and rigging Experience with safely loading and unloading box trucks Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Comfortable working on ladders and using motorized personnel lifts up to 25’ above ground Duties and Responsibilities: Lead and oversee lighting rig load-ins and load-outs at each venue Ensure compliance with TheaterWorksUSA safety protocols and venue-specific policies Maintain the integrity of the lighting design at every performance Collaborate with the Production Stage Manager to advance technical elements pre-arrival Take and implement creative and technical notes from rehearsals and performances Participate in production and management meetings before and after opening Work closely with the Stage Management team, Head Carp/Audio, and main office to foster a strong touring company environment Monitor labor usage and expenses to stay within budgetary guidelines Policy Notice: TheaterWorksUSA maintains a zero-tolerance policy for substance abuse during work. Any employee found under the influence or exhibiting signs of intoxication while on duty will be immediately terminated.
