Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Director of Circus World, the Technical Director will coordinate and manage all theatrical technical elements for Circus World and the Al. Ringling Theater. It serves as Circus World’s expert and trouble-shooter for day to day show technical operations, ensuring that performances and associated activities are executed to the highest quality and safety standards.
The ideal candidate has education and hands on experience working directly with Lighting, Sound, and Projection elements, in a professional theatrical environment. The incumbent draws upon experience to determine operational needs and best practices. He or she also advises Circus World staff on technical operations, contributes to strategic planning for Circus World and the Al. Ringling Theater, supports development efforts of the Wisconsin Historical Foundation.
Start date for this position may depend on approval from the Wisconsin Legislature Joint Committee on Finance.
Salary Information
The salary will be between $24.50 - $26.00 per hour ($50,960 - $54,080 annually) in accordance with the provisions of the current Compensation Plan. This position is in pay schedule 07, range 04. The civil service classification is Marketing Specialist. A 12-month probationary period will be required.

This position works primarily at the sites.
Qualifications
Please make sure to describe the following qualifications within your resume and/or letter of qualifications in order to be considered for this position.
Minimally qualified candidate will have all of the following:
Direct working knowledge of lighting, sound, rigging systems and their associated safety requirements.
Experience with artist relations and advancing shows.
Experience executing all size special events - weddings, trade shows, corporate events, community engagement (dance schools, recitals, band concerts etc.).
In addition to minimum qualifications, a well-qualified candidate will additionally have experience in one of the following areas:
Experience with Complex special events – community or private.
Direct technical working experience in a circus or large-scale theatrical touring operation.
Direct experience with lighting and sound design.
Budget creation and management experience for theatrical operations.
